Charles received his B.A. in 1985 and his J.D. in 1988 from Case Western Reserve University.


Charles is a member of the Ohio and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is a fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys.


Charles served as legal advisor to the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. He was a member of the adjunct faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and Cleveland Marshall College of Law where he taught real estate law and finance. Charles has lectured at legal and real estate trade group seminars on leasing, financing and various other real estate topics.

Awards & Recognition

Charles was selected in “Best Lawyers in America” every year since 2008 and was the Cleveland, Ohio “Real Estate Attorney of the Year” in 2013. He was also selected as an “Ohio Super Lawyer” every year since 2006.


Charles is an active member of B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in Pepper Pike, Ohio where he is on the Executive Committee and is their legal advisor. He is also on the Board of Trustees at the Agnon School in Beachwood, Ohio.
