Ed received his B.A. magna cum laude in 1975 from Case Western Reserve University and his J.D. with honors in 1979 from The Ohio State University.


Ed is a member of the Ohio and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations and served as chair of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Real Estate Institute.


Ed was a law commissioner for the Ohio Supreme Court and a member of the adjunct faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and Cleveland Marshall College of Law where he taught real estate law and finance. Ed has lectured at legal and real estate trade group seminars on leasing, financing and various other real estate topics. He is a fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Awards & Recognition

Ed was selected by his peers as the 2017 Best Lawyers "Real Estate Lawyer of the Year" for Cleveland, Ohio. Ed was selected every year since 2007 “Best Lawyers in America” and as an “Ohio Super Lawyer” since 2006. He is rated “AV Preeminent” by LexisNexis/Martindale-Hubbell. Chambers and Partners in its 2013 edition stated that Ed “is rated among the state’s top real estate attorneys”.


Ed is a member of the Foundation Board of Trustees of The Slovene Home for the Aged, a nursing home facility in Cleveland, Ohio and was chair of the Board of Trustees of Light of Hearts Villa, an assisted living facility in Bedford, Ohio.
